The Tanzania Entrepreneurship Foundation (TEF) was initiated in 2017, inspired by a transformative visit from Mr. Gary Shotton, founder of Inspiring Better Business, and Tanzanian native Octavian Msongamwanja in Morogoro. Their vision to shift mindsets from job-seeking to job creation sparked TEF’s mission to empower Tanzanians to drive economic transformation. Formally established in 2018 as a registered non-profit (Reg. No. OONGO/R/1723), TEF began its journey to foster entrepreneurship and innovation.
Since its inception, TEF has expanded from its Morogoro headquarters to branches in Dar es Salaam, Mafia, Moshi, Dodoma, and Tanga. Strategic partnerships with Better Business-USA, Sustainable World Corporation (SWC)-Sweden, and Global Food Gardening International (GFG)-Switzerland have enhanced TEF’s capacity to deliver impactful programs. To broaden its reach, TEF launched Okoa FM (106.3), a radio platform providing expert insights and fostering a culture of entrepreneurship across Tanzania.
Under the governance of a Board of Directors chaired by Dr. Luseko Chilagane, TEF has empowered diverse communities, equipping youth at Mwanza Bugando University with entrepreneurial skills to launch ventures such as laboratory testing and clothing sales. Covering 56% of Tanzania’s regions, TEF remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the advancement of entrepreneurship, economic empowerment, and environmental conservation for a sustainable future.
